Three Headships. Last Headship Two Mile Ash Middle School, Milton Keynes (1991-2005): School roll increased from 360 to 780, and became oversubscribed during this period.

Two Mile Ash designated as “Uniquely Outstanding” and listed by OFSTED as one of the top 200 schools nationally (2000). School awarded Beacon status 2000, Training College status 1999, and was designated as the Lead School in the National Outstanding School-Centred Teacher Training Consortium (1996-2005).


Adviser to the Teacher Training Agency (TTA), National College for School Leadership (NCSL), the Department for Education (DfE), OFSTED and the NCC.

Visiting Lecturer at Nottingham University, Buckingham University, and the National College for School Leadership.

Author of several articles for the Times Education Supplement (TES), and presenter to the House of Commons Select Committee examining the role of OFSTED (1999).

Reviewed the performance of several Leadership Centres in the USA, on behalf of the National College for School Leadership

Chair of the National SCITT Consortium and Founder and Chair of NASBTT (National Association of School Based Teacher Trainers).


Appointed as Chief Education Officer and Executive Director of Cognita Schools in April 2005.

Left Cognita in 2013 and joined Minerva Education as Executive Director and Head of Education (Sept 2013).
